Accelerated Resolution Therapy - ART
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a revolutionary approach to treating trauma, depression, anxiety, and many other emotional and mental health problems. Clients often feel relief in as few as 1 - 5 sessions. Many problems that have been addressed for years - even decades in talk therapy, can be processed and resolved quickly.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy works directly to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain, so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions. An ART session is very straightforward, using relaxing eye movements and a technique called Voluntary Memory/Image Replacement to change the way in which the negative images are stored. The end result is that life experiences will no longer trigger strong, disproportionate emotional or physical reactions. |

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a type of talk therapy that involves learning how to identify problem thoughts that cause distress or unhealthy behaviors, and how to work with these thoughts to develop a more objective, healthy, and rational perspective. CBT grows a deeper self-awareness and insight. It includes practicing cognitive skills and strategies to develop and strengthen healthier thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. With repetition, these start to feel natural and over time, become automatic.

A New Approach
Education, professional training and work, combined with life experiences have led me to develop an integrative approach to cognitive behavioral therapy. This approach includes developing an objective and motivating perspective through structured exercises with clear, proactive practices to bring to daily life. The exercises include cognitive, visual, and body relaxation elements. I have been developing and using some of these with clients and for myself since 2011 and have seen overwhelmingly positive results. This approach helps shift attention to decrease judgment, turn towards objective reality, acceptance, empathy, self-compassion and validation, hope, and intentions. I use these cognitive skills daily for my own mental well-being, and I teach them to others.
Practice Philosophy
I consider a number of elements to be essential to mental well-being such as self-compassion, mindfulness, body relaxation, deep breathing, and visualization. I believe everyone can benefit from calming and encouraging self-talk. Taking a helicopter view to think about our thinking, allows us to understand how our gears are turning so to speak. We might imagine thoughts as leaves floating down a stream or as birds flying across the sky; they are transient and fleeting. We can allow ourselves to feel our feelings, also noting their impermanence. Learning to view our thoughts and feelings with an accepting and nonjudgmental spirit is an invaluable goal in therapy.
